While I've taken part in all kinds of reporting, I make it my mission to make sure that the voices of the community are heard in an unbiased way. There is always more than one side to a story and as journalists, it's our duty to make sure that we can present information for viewers to make their own opinions.

Skills

Web

I have had a lot of experience with different web applications when it comes to helping post to websites. I have had experience with writing about all sorts of topics including hard news, enterprise stories, technology, the environment, etc.

Videography

I have experienced shooting footage on several cameras including those falling under brands like SONY and Canon. I have also learned to shoot stories on my phone.

Social Media Management

I have been exposed to applications like Parsley that allow me to track things like view count and what stories are getting the most engagement. With this, I have been able to get a better idea of which stories would do well on what platforms.

Multilingual

Spanish was actually my first language. I learned it before I went in to elementary school and then I began to learn English just before I went in to first grade. I have also taken four years of French.

Editing

I first learned to edit footage on Adobe Premiere Pro. I currently use FinalCut Pro for footage. For audio, I was trained on Adobe Audition. In terms of photo editing, I have used applications like Photoshop and Lightroom.

On and Off air presence

While I have a very amicable personality on-air, I also make sure to carry that with me throughout my whole journalistic process. During pre-interviews, during recorded interviews, I always make sure to treat everyone I encounter with the upmost respect- especially my team members in the newsroom.

Values

I've faced many challenges not just in the journalism industry, but in life. The biggest thing I have learned is to keep a positive outlook and keep fighting. I am a very motivated individual and I have never let a bump in the road stop me from achieving my goals. Life is hard sometimes and it can really stink, but it's also beautiful and I plan to make a difference as I navigate my career.
